Favor

I have been in church work for over 30 years and have greeted people in churches and their response at times is “Blessed and highly favored”. For many it’s a way of greeting each other in church language. But, I’ve come to realize many don’t understand the favor part of the greeting.

The word “favor” in the original languages has different usages but the same base meaning. To be acceptable by someone Eph. 1:6 we are accepted in the beloved It’s described in Isaiah 61:3 He gave me beauty for ashes. Another way the word is used is gracious with the root being grace. His grace is the ability He gives so we can be what He has called us to be, and do what He has called us to do. This implies His empowerment to us by the Holy Spirit. With this explanation of favor we who have accepted Christ into our lives are living in His favor.

In the next several blogs we will examine several individuals God allows us to see His favor and the outcomes.
